Sponsored by the Reggio Calabria Province Linguistic Minorities department the “Saperi e Sapori dell’Area Grecanica” project was managed by the Cooperative Satyroi of Bova Marina.The project aim at enhancing and promoting the local and organic food and wine, as an ingredient of development and employment growth for the Calabrian communities that has Greek roots.
Project goals: perpetuate the traditions related to food, interpreting them in a modern logic, able to make available to all the culture of the Area Grecanica, the identity of which can be represented by Greek hospitality, Byzantine spirituality and culinary traditions. In fact, the project promotes the knowledge and tastes of Area Grecanica on the whole national territory, giving six excellent local foods in quality restaurants sites in the cities of Rome, Florence, Turin and Milan.This restaurants developed a menu of these agro-food thanks to foods recipes formulated by the students of the Condofuri Institute of Hospitality, which is part of the Bova Marina Euclid Higher Institute. This foods recipes will bring Area Grecanica food and wine on the boards of the Peninsula, transmitting thus traditions of a linguistic minority, whose greek past has contributed to the cultural heritage of Italy constitution. It simply need to remember that Italy name was the appellative given by the Greeks to the southern Calabria last piece of land. Then finally Satyroi wish you good appetite, in our language of course: calò faghì.

Calabrian Historical-Linguistic Greek Minority exploitation as first promotional event of the project in November 2013 Rome. Actions on Greek culture and Area Grecanica food and wine focused.
A master class of Area Grecanica organic and local products and cultural events were organized than presentation of the guide “The Other Journey. Itineraries in the Calabria’s Greek. ” too.
The discovery of the Calabria’s Greeks in the Reggio Calabria province, through a journey to point out historical-linguistic minority of the Greeks in southern Calabria and Aspromonte Mountains. Greek orthodox church have risen in recent years, in places where the popular tradition for centuries venerated the relics of their Italian Greeks saints was the second step of that cultural trip.
A right combination between latest Hellenistic community centers and Byzantine spirituality in strip of land stretching along Ionian and Tyrrhenian seas. The project target sponsored by the Reggio Calabria Province Linguistic Minorities department was to return paintings of the Calabria’s Greeks, whose testimonies are not confined only in museums, including the remains of the Greek Magna polis or the monasteries ruins of “Basilian” but are translated too into symbols, gestures, sounds, rhythms, flavors and devotional practices firmly connected to the agricultural world.
The text promoted by the project “The Greeks of Calabria” was made by the Cooperative Satyroi to investigate the greek culture-epoch of Calabria through the steps of a long history that emerges only by this new point of view of the South Aspromonte Area.
Food for thought for decoding codes of belonging, symbols and memories highlighting the excellent food in a land where you can feel the most interesting examples of Greek Italy still.

    • “Calabria’s Greeks” Project Implementation. Project actions: “the other Calabrian Greek Travel Routes” guide. Cultural tourist routes, food and wine connecting the historical minority language of the Calabria’s Greeks with the other Reggio Calabria province towns where traces of Byzantine culture are still. Palmi, Seminara, Mammola, Stilo, Gerace and Reggio Calabria are the main cities with Byzantine historical expressions. Made in Rome at Centro Studi Orsini Chapel a master class of the excellent Grecanica Area food is the last one promotional action.
    • Conference “PSR 2014-2021 new programming opportunities for the sustainable development of rural areas” in the scope of the project “Mind the Cap – Organic Agri 2013-0085 for a sustainable future”. Event organized with Aiab and Aiab Umbria on behalf of the ‘IFOAM (International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements).
  •  September – October
    • BioDomenica “BioDomenica”, organized by AIAB Calabria and Satyroi with Coldiretti and Legambiente. Event “Officina del Bio” called, was a workshop through a practical demonstration of natural leavening. Organic Farm Sant’Anna owners made and explained that  leaviening step by step .That lab touched particularly interest of consumers who have labored to knead and distribute the natural yeast.
  • March – April
    • PrimaveraBio with AIAB Calabria to promote the excellence of Reggio Calabria Province organic food. Consumers through specific information activities, increase knowledge of the province of Reggio territory.  AIAB Calabria proposed activites direct to improve knowledge of the realities existing, “A day in a organic farm ” through the PrimaveraBio national campaign.



  • April – June
    • Organized by AIAB Calabria “Le Piazze del Bio”, was sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry and the Calabria Region, Department of Agriculture and Forests Council for Agriculture, Forestry. Event  . On the basis of the Agreement on the National Programme of Action for organic farming and organic products – PAN 2008/2009 – sanctioned by the State-Regions Conference. Achieved targets:improve the quality of consumer information with proper communication, effective and comprehensive highlighting. Farms become custodians of biodiversity conservation, mitigation of climate change and the maintenance of social equity.
  • March – June
    • Bioesploriamo in Calabria project was sponsored Calabria Region and implemented in partneship with AIAB Calabria. Project activities:
      1. Organic Farms open for a week to citizens and consumers;
      2. “Bioculturando” project and “The Organic Farm Life” a traveling educational exhibition in three Calabrian cultural centers exposed;
      3. “Le Piazze del Bio”, exhibition stands, organic Calabrian products fair, events was held in Cosenza and Reggio Calabria main squares.
    • Rende workshops realization “Officine del Bio” named. Two laboratories implemented by Satyroi with AIAB Calabria and AIAB Calabria – Cosenza Group partneship.Target achieved :better information actions about pasta from Senatore Cappelli  wheat variety and chili coltsfoot Jam.
